Etiquette

What is Yoga Etiquette?

These rules of good yoga etiquette will help you and the people around you feel comfortable when entering the yoga room. They are based on common sense and courtesy, but deal with some issues that are specific to yoga classes and studios.

Before Class

  • Remember to properly hydrate before class. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Arrive about 10-15 minutes before class. We start class on time and we lock the door when class starts.Place the front of your mat on line
  • Bring a Yoga Mat, towel and bottle of water.
  • Bring an extra bottle of water with you to the yoga room so you do not have to leave to refill your bottle.
  • Please be considerate to your fellow yogis. Have a clean body and avoid any perfumes.
  • No watches that beep, cell phones or pagers in the Yoga room.
  • Maintain silence in yoga room. Please save your conversations for after class.

During Class

  • Enter the yoga room in silence. Your practice begins once you enter the room.
  • Bring bottled water into class with you. Drink between postures not during- especially when everyone is in a balancing posture.
  • Do your very best to stay in the Yoga room for the entire class. Leaving early is discouraged. If you feel you need to leave, check with the teacher first.
  • Focus on yourself in the mirror.
  • Practice stillness between the postures.
  • Honor the silence of the room by moving quietly and with calm silent breathing.

After Class

  • Try not to rush out of the room. Take at least a 30 seconds Savasana.
  • Observe silence during final Savasana.
  • Leave the room quietly so that everyone can enjoy a calm and silent Savasana.
  • Showers are on a first come first serve basis. Please limit your showers to 2-3 minutes.
  • Be mindful of the time. We open 30 minutes before and close 30 minutes after each class.
  • Enjoy the peace and energy you are taking with you from class and make the commitment to return within 24 hours.
